Cawthorne Gallery

Your Virtual Visit to Cawthorne Country through their paintings

The Cawthornes were local landscape artists who painted the scenery within a 30 mile radius of Clitheroe.

The Gallery will take you on a virtual tour of Cawthorne Country by presenting their works in order of a journey that starts in the gardens of Clitheroe Castle, and ends at Ingleton Falls.

New painting for the Cawthorne Gallery

This oil painting is by Frederick Cawthorne, and dated for 1922. It depicts a rural scene, with the Ribble and Brungerley Bridge in the background.

Can you expand the journey?

We know that the Cawthornes painted in the Clitheroe area for over 60 years, and it is likely that the works shown are a small number of their existing works.

If you have a painting or print by either of the Cawthornes, we’d be thrilled if you would send us a high-resolution image, and we will put it into the Gallery

All you need to need to do is take a photo of your painting or print, and email it to rachel@penroseantiques.co.uk

We’d love to hear from you 🙂
