Ribble Valley’s Hidden Landscape Artists
2020 marks the 70th anniversary of Frederick Cawthorne (1877 – 1940), landscape artist and son of artist Elijah Cawthorne (1843 – 1913).
Originally, we hoped to host a community exhibition of their works in Clitheroe, but like so many plans for this year it was not been possible to go ahead. Instead, we presented a Virtual Exhibition about the Cawthornes as part of the Heritage Open Days, in association with Clitheroe Civic Society.
We’ve had lots of lovely comments about their works, so we’re going to leave these pages up for a little longer.
We would love to bring as many of their works ‘together’ as possible. If you have a painting or print by either artist, and would like it to be included in this Virtual Exhibition, please email a high-resolution image to Rachel at firstname.lastname@example.org
